Title devised by cataloger
Testimonials were apparently issued by the publisher of Wood's 1885 edition of Our living world, Selmar Hess of New York City
The sheets are printed on the recto side only, and were produced as facsimiles, probably through a lithographic process
The sheets are numbered as 7, 8 and 9. It has not been determined whether additional sheets were created for this set
Sheet 7 contains testimonials by J.A. Turner [presumably Jane Wadden Turner], librarian of the Smithsonian Institution, dated April 4, 1885, and by professor Agassiz, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Cambridge, Mass., dated April 18, 1885; sheet 8 contains testimonials from professor Spencer Baird of the Smithsonian Institution, dated April 2, 1885, and by "the eminent ornithologist professor Coues," dated April 3, 1885; and sheet 9 contains testimonials from professor Ridgway of the Smithsonian Institution, dated April 1, 1885, from F.W. Putnam, the Massachusetts Fish Commissioner, Peabody Museum of American Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, and from A.S. Packard, Jr., MD., Ph.D., professor of zoology and geology at the University of Providence, Rhode Island and editor of the 'American naturalist,' dated April 10, 1885
